Every business is unique, but here are a few areas that we can help you navigate:
EMV – (Europay MasterCard Visa) cards frequently referred to as “Chip Cards” use an embedded microprocessor within the card to authenticate transactions. This method of acceptance is already being utilized by numerous businesses, and it will replace magnetic strips in the future because it provides added security against certain types of fraud. Equipment and software changes may be needed in order to accept these cards as there is an EMV Liability Shift deadline being imposed by the credit card brands in October 2015.
PCI-DSS – (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is an information security standard for the credit card processing environment. To maintain compliance, businesses must complete a self-assessment questionnaire and a vulnerability scan. The scan is designed to identify potential weaknesses within the businesses IT infrastructure that could compromise card holder data. Failure to maintain a secure payment environment could expose a customer to fraud and expose a business to loss in customer confidence, or even worse, legal action.
NFC – (Near Field Communications) is the next frontier in payment acceptance. NFC allows customers to make payments at the point of sale using mobile technology like Apple Pay. NFC transactions are predicted to dominate the retail payment environment in the coming years. This technology is becoming increasingly common on today’s mobile devices. Mobile wallet transactions are no longer a thing of the future.
